A.R.T.I.S.A.N is a non-profit organisation based in France.
The initials stand for Aide de Renaissance Technique avec Internet pour le Soutien à l'ArtisaN (Tecnical Renaissance Help with the Internet for a Support to Craftsmen.)

@rtisan's main goal is to help develop and maintain craft, not as a curiosity, or a nostalgic show of the 'good old days', but in a true durable and large scale maner in today's society, in which it offers a model of long term economical development and social responsibility which lack the current market economy model.

The needs for a organisation such as @rtisan are numerous :
  1. Provide a true and serious support responding to the pressing needs of craft and craftsmen to adapt to new technologies throughout the world, providing more than just words.
  2. Develop and institutionalize an alternative to the prevailing development model of globalisation and world market economy, and to its social, ecological, and long term economical negative consequences.
  3. Incourage and suggest scientific research programs developping new technology for the use of crafts, condemned til today to adapt to technology developped for the use of large scale industry (inadapted or obsolete), or be content which the extremely limited market of nostalgia.
